Loved this! Perfect visuals, a scary monster that has rightly seeped into pop culture consciousness and creepy all the way through. A chilling metaphor for depression and motherhood. Plus a new LGBT icon is born! What’s not to like?

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1973)

A proper horror classic. Terrifying for it’s nastiness and the pointlessness of the violence and deaths. You never know why Leatherface and the family do these awful things. Relentlessly gory, gruesome (which was groundbreaking at the time and is now the norm) but it’s the idea that one wrong turn and this could happen to you that is the scariest part of this. And, of course, the man wearing the someone else’s face as a mask on his own face…that’s obviously horrid!
The final shot of a psycho wielding a chainsaw, madly in the the sunset is just one of the best ending shots of all time. Minus one point for Franklin who has to be the most annoying character in horror history!

Actually terrifying. Some good jump scares. Leather face will forever be in my nightmares, though the end “look” was a little Pauline’s Pens off The League of Gentlemen
