For Roald Dahl Day we're working with family theatre specialists Z Arts to bring a very special interactive, immersive screening of The Witches to their arts centre in Hulme.
Z Arts will be dressed like The Excelsior Hotel from the film, with cakes, afternoon tea, sparkling cocktails and cress soup to immerse you in the story but BEWARE it will be teeming with real life witches (well...drag queens!)
Our cast of witchy drag queens will be joined by Z Arts' Youth Theatre Company who will have working with our queens to introduce them to the art of drag for the first time and school them in how to be the very worst witches they can be. Keep an eye out for them scratching under their wigs and holding their noses!
There'll be a 2.30pm family friendly matinee (for children 8+) and a much ruder 18+ evening show for adults only at 7.30pm
Expect chocolate, potions, spells and mice plus Afternoon Tea themed food, cocktails, mocktails for the kids, sweets, cakes, crafting, workshops and a bootcamp on how to spot real-life witches - we hear there is an RSPCC meeting in the conference room next to the screening and they are expecting a visit from the Grand High Witch herself (played by drag superstar and Make A Scene hostess Grace Oni Smith).
This is going to be a really special day and the perfect tribute to one of Roald Dahl's most enduring and twisted creations!
Families are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl characters or you can join in the fun by taking part in our free mask mouse making workshops at the screening to turn you into a little Luke or Bruno!
We would love to see adults coming for the evening showing to come dressed as the worst witches they can, bad wigs, bad suits and all...think Theresa May!
MATINEE SHOW - 14.30 (suitable for ages 8+)
EVENING SHOW - 19.30 (adults only 18+)
