We're excited to see Reclaim the Frame bring you the ace programming line up from Tweed; director of Native Spirit Film Festival as part of our Film Feels Connected season for International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.
Highlights include two feature documentaries - TRICK OR TREATY? (directed by Alanis Obomsawin, a member of the Abenaki), which delves into the history of Treaty 9, the 1905 agreement between the First Nations and the Canadian government. And WARRIOR WOMEN (directed by Elizabeth Castle, a descendent of the Pekowi band of Shawnee & Christina D. King, a member of the Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma) which shines a light on the untold story of American Indian Movement activists including Lakota activist and community organiser Madonna Thunder Hawk and her daughter Marcella Gilbert.
Plus there's also a selection of shorts to watch from more female filmmakers including Jules Arita Koostachin of the Cree and band member of the Attawapiskat First Nation (PLACEnta, OshKiKiShiKaw), Caroline Monnet; descendant of the Algonquin (360 DEGREES, MOBILIZE) and Crystal Dawn Morris from Splatsin of the Shuswap Nation (SHARING MELA'HMA).**
