MAKE A SCENE WEEKEND UPDATE 31/08/2018
Yes that's right...there's a disproportionate amount of Gillian Anderson news in this week's Make A Scene Weekend Update! After last week's bumper packed Pride edition this week's newsletter - featuring the biggest, best and queerest news from last week and our helpful recommendations from the week ahead - is short and sweet (like that guy you met at Homoelectric)
IN THE NEWS...
Gillian Anderson has a bad ass new line of womenswear for no noise uber babes and it's so powerful it just pegged your Dad...
Gillian Anderson is considering playing Maggie Thatcher in royalist wankfest The Crown!
Gillian Anderson isn't in this new trailer and exclusive footage from Luca Guadagnino's Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson starring remake of Susperia but it would be great if she was...
Here's an article that I think Gillian Anderson would like about how Alan Cumming is playing CBS's first ever lead gay character in a primetime kind-of-programme-your-parents-watch-on-Channel-5 crime show...
What Keeps You Alive is an upcoming lesbian horror film that I imagine Gillian Anderson would add to her Netflix list but wouldn't go and see in cinemas or maybe she'd check it out on a plane. Either way here's a nice preview article about it...
Though she's never been nominated and probably isn't a member of the Academy, Gillian Anderson is, I hear, very excited about upcoming Damien Chazelle (La La Land) Neil Armstrong biopic starring Ryan Gosling which has just premiered on opening night of the Venice Film Festival and is instantly making Best Picture and Best Actor buzz!
And Gillian Anderson isn't amongst the queer comedians in this long read article about the varying reactions (both love and hate) from the comedy community about Hannah Gadsby's LGBT comedy stand up special Nanettethat debuted on Netflix this Summer.
FILM OF THE WEEK
Unless you want to go an watch the dire sexy-Muppets-Mellissa McCarthy comedy The Happytown Murders where Jim Henson's son makes knock off Sesame Street characters jazz (I'm not even kidding!) then there's not much in the way of new releases this week which leaves the coveted "Film of the Week" wide open for our queen Ms Joan Crawford to snatch like somebody else's Oscar!
Mildred Pierce is back on the big screen at HOME this Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and you should go and luxuriate in this black and white melodrama that sees Joan cast as a single mother trying to do right by her bratty daughter in the role that won her her Academy Award.
Not a wire hanger in sight!
Mildred Pierce is at HOME 13.00 Sunday, 20.30 Tuesday and 13.00 Wednesday this week.
