TV OF THE WEEK
Pose has now concluded on FX. Catch up on it illegally online but stop at Episode 6 and then come to our next and final Pose Viewing Party for Episodes 7 & 8 at Tribeca 6pm on Sunday 12th August where we're throwing a mini ball with vogue workshops where we'll be forging new houses and battling it out on the runway! These parties have been so much fun!
As you know the sixth episode is the first ever episode of TV directed by a trans woman of colour ever - Janet Mock. Here she is talking about her work and the amazingness the whole team created in Pose series 2.
Here's a really interesting article about different trans women's experiences of being fetishised, inspired by Angel's storyline in Pose.
Our TV recommendation of the week is over on queer streaming app WOW Presents Plus, usually home to Drag Race spin-off drag queen programmes filmed in front of a green screen like Jinkx Monsoon's Cool Mum. Seth Boggart aka Hunx from queer garage band Hunx and his Punx has a new series that is home-made, queer, punk, underground and very San Francisco... Feelin' Fruity is billed as a “kids’ show for adults” with its canned laughter and public-access graphics, its blend of performance art and comedy follows the formula of a classic variety show, a mix between You Can’t Do That on Television and Sesame Street but with a trippy visuals.
Every episode ends with a dance contest to see how fruity each guest is. Are they Not So Fruity? Oh So Fruity? Or Fruity by Nature? What's not to love?
You can watch the first episode featuring Manilla Luzon on WOW Presents YouTube channel and the rest on their streaming service. Totally recommended!
Here's a cute article with and interview with Seth...
And finally...Anna Phylactic is on and all drag queen episode of Paul O Grady's Blind Date this weekend! This is not a drill!
The final Pose Viewing Party is Sunday 12th August at Tribeca from 6pm.
Feeling Fruity is streaming on WOW Presents Plus
Blind Date is on Channel 5 this Saturday at 7pm
