FILM OF THE WEEK
Another week, another Disney remake as the beloved animated films of your youth that were poured over for years by artists the like of which we'll never see working again get reanimated like a zombie pop-up book of a distant memory all for the sake of nostalgia profit for a company who have been sucking the creativity out of the film landscape for the last fifteen years with remakes, reboots and comic book movies.
But The Lion King has Beyonce in it as a singing lioness so this is a total muste see. Beyonce has a new Lion King/Africa inspired album out too called The Gift which almost justifies the whole, hollow enterprise. Almost.
It's slim picking for queer art house fair this week with queer costume drama adaptation Tell It To The Bees getting tepid reviews for an over-wrought story of Scottish sapphic love in the 1950s highlands.
You should probably just stay home and watch queer slasher thriller Knife+Heart on MUBI...
